Get ready for the showing season with our Showing Clinic - Tips and Tricks for the Show Ring

Writer's picture: Exe Equestrian ClubExe Equestrian Club

This is an un-mounted clinic for riders at any level of experience in the show ring. The clinic will provide more experienced participants with some useful tips to enhance their presence in the ring, and provide less experienced participants with information about what is expected in different types of showing class.

The clinic will last two hours (including a short break); the first part will consist of a ridden demonstration showing both good and bad examples of a ridden show. There will also be a discussion about how to show off a horse or pony to their best advantage, and what the judge looks for in an in-hand class. The second part of the clinic will consist of a practical session, looking at how to turn out horses for different types of class, and tips for plaiting, trimming and rider presentation.

There will be plenty of time to ask questions during both sessions, and at the end of the clinic participants will be provided with a written handout with useful information.

As the clinic will take part in the indoor school and the yard it is suggested that you wear suitable footwear, and appropriate clothing for the weather.
